Setting Up RA27 With Digital Selective Calling

Before RA27 uses the DSC call function DSC needs to be set, so what are the setting steps? Let’s introduce in detail.

First, press “Menu” button to select “DSC setting” and press “OK” to enter it.

Secondly, rotate the knob or press “up/down” buttons to select sub-menu functions:

Position Input, Individual ID, Group ID, Auto ACK, CH Auto SW, Data Output, Alarm Status, CH-70 SQL level, Self- Test, and Multi-Task.

Distress calling contains the ship’s position and time, and RA27 can manually enter the relevant information. Open “Position Input” function, press the arrow keys to edit the latitude and longitude.

When the cursor moves to the N, S, W, or E positions, you can select north or south latitude and west or east longitude. And then you should input the ship’s position and press “ok” to save.

RA27 support “Group ID”, and every ID can be defined by 10 characters. Please choose “Group ID” and press “ADD” to program your ID name or the group ID you need. The RA27 support the DSC channel automatic switch function, when the function is open, after receiving a DSC call, the radio will remain on the working channel for 10 seconds, and then the radio will automatically switch to the DSC call or other designated channels. When the information is set, it can be tested. Please select “Self-Test” to test, if the screen display “OK” mean that the DSC transmission or receiving is right, however, the screen show “NG”, you should check the DSC set.

Check whether the above settings are completed before going to the sea. If it is completed, you can go to the sea with confidence. If you encounter danger, press the distress button to alarm (Big Red button) in time.
